Nucleating Agents, also known as crystal nucleating agents, are functional additives used to promote crystallization in semi-crystalline polymers by providing heterogeneous nucleation sites. They increase crystallization temperature and rate, refine crystal grains, and improve transparency, stiffness, heat resistance, dimensional stability, and processing efficiency. Major types include inorganic nucleating agents (such as talc, silica, and calcium carbonate), organic nucleating agents (such as sorbitol acetals, organophosphates, carboxylate salts, and rosin acid salts), and polymeric nucleating agents. Certain types are also called clarifying agents when the primary function is improving transparency. Although the dosage is typically only 0.1–2% of the formulation, nucleating agents play a decisive role in the crystallization behavior, optical properties, mechanical performance, and production cycle of polypropylene, polyethylene, PET, polyamide
