PhireGuard 508 Flame Retardant is a halogen-free, phosphorus-based intumescent additive from the PhireGuard series by Clariant. Designed for polyolefins and engineering plastics, it delivers UL94 V-0 rating at low loading levels, enhances thermal stability, and maintains mechanical properties. Eco-friendly, RoHS-compliant, and suitable for wire & cable, automotive, and electronics applications.

Features Of PhireGuard 508 Flame Retardant

  1. Halogen-free formulation ensures low smoke density and minimal toxic gas emission during combustion.

  2. Excellent thermal stability, maintaining performance up to 320°C without significant decomposition.

  3. High phosphorus content (≥24% w/w) enables efficient char formation and condensed-phase flame inhibition.

  4. Good compatibility with polyolefins, engineering thermoplastics, and elastomer matrices without migration or blooming.

  5. UL 94 V-0 rated at 1.6 mm thickness in standard PP formulations (30 wt% loading).
