BYK DISPERBYK-163 is a solvent-based wetting and dispersing agent with a modified polyurethane structure, designed for solvent-borne coatings, inks, and pigment concentrates. Its block copolymer with pigment-affinic groups ensures steric stabilization of inorganic/organic pigments, compatible with alkyd, acrylic, and aldehyde resin systems, while optimizing viscosity reduction and flow properties
Steric Stabilization - Prevents pigment re-flocculation via spatial hindrance and uniform charge distribution
Broad Compatibility - Works with alkyds, acrylics, and aldehyde resins in solvent/solvent-free systems
Process Efficiency - Reduces grinding time by 30-50% and lowers viscosity for higher pigment loading
Optical Enhancement - Improves gloss, transparency (organic pigments), and hiding power (inorganics)
Non-Migrating - High molecular weight ensures durability without affecting film properties
Industrial Coatings - Alkyd-based machinery finishes with anti-settling requirements
Automotive Refinish - High-color-strength basecoats with carbon black dispersion
Wood Coatings - Acid-cured systems needing improved pigment acceptance
Printing Inks - Flexographic/gravure inks for packaging films (FDA compliant)
Pigment Concentrates - Universal color pastes (up to 60% organic pigment loading)
