Metablen SX-006 is a silicone-acrylic core-shell impact modifier focusing on synergy of weather resistance, high colorability and impact resistance in the S series. Its core is silicone/acrylic ester and shell is SAN (styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer). It is suitable for engineering plastics such as PC and PC-ABS, especially for high-end products requiring weather resistance, colorability, impact resistance and processing stability, balancing appearance and long-term performance.
Unique core-shell structure with SAN coating, excellent compatibility with PC, PC-ABS and other substrates, high colorability, easy to formulate uniform and bright colors.
Outstanding weather resistance and heat aging resistance, not easy to age and yellow during long-term outdoor use, not easy to decompose during high-temperature processing, good thermal stability (withstanding processing temperature of 320-330℃).
Excellent impact resistance, significantly improving substrate toughness, good low-temperature impact performance, while not significantly reducing rigidity, improving the brittleness of thick-walled parts.
Good synergy with flame-retardant systems, helping to improve the flame-retardant effect of materials, excellent processing fluidity, little impact on product appearance and dimensional stability.
High-end automotive interior and exterior parts of PC/PC-ABS (instrument panel decorative parts, door trim panels, window frames).
Weather-resistant and colored electronic and electrical enclosures (high-end mobile phone housings, laptop housings, outdoor communication equipment housings).
Outdoor weather-resistant structural parts (fitness equipment housings, outdoor security equipment housings, flame-retardant parts of electrical equipment).

Q1: What is the primary polymer matrix compatibility of Mitsubishi SX-006?
A: Mitsubishi SX-006 is specifically engineered for compatibility with rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) formulations, including both suspension and emulsion PVC resins. It demonstrates good dispersion and interfacial adhesion in unplasticized (uPVC) compounds used for profiles, pipes, and sheets.
Q2: How does SX-006 affect processing behavior during extrusion or injection molding?
A: SX-006 generally supports stable melt flow and enhances melt elasticity without significantly increasing melt viscosity. It contributes to improved die swell control and surface finish in extruded uPVC profiles, and helps reduce melt fracture tendencies under typical processing conditions.
Q3: What impact performance improvements can be expected when using SX-006 in uPVC compounds?
A: When incorporated at typical dosage levels, SX-006 delivers a balanced enhancement in low-temperature impact resistance—particularly evident in Izod and Charpy tests—while maintaining rigidity and heat distortion temperature. The improvement is most pronounced in thick-section applications such as window profiles and structural pipes.
Q4: Is SX-006 suitable for applications requiring long-term weathering stability?
A: Yes—SX-006 is formulated to remain compatible with standard uPVC stabilizer systems (e.g., Ca/Zn and organotin types) and does not interfere with UV absorbers or hinder long-term color retention and mechanical property retention under outdoor exposure.
