Kuraray SEPTON™ 4055 Impact Modifier

SEPTON™ 4055 is a SEEPS styrenic thermoplastic elastomer of Kuraray’s 4000 series with 30% styrene content. It features ultra-high solution viscosity, high transparency after oil filling, fast oil absorption rate, excellent oil retention and PE compatibility, no melt flow under standard conditions, superior heat/weather resistance and electrical insulation, ideal for high-transparency gel, high-performance adhesives and polymer modification of high-end polyolefin systems.

Features Of Kuraray SEPTON™ 4055 Impact Modifier

  1. 30% styrene content with SEEPS structure, delivering ultra-high solution viscosity and excellent mechanical properties vs traditional SEBS.

  2. Ultra-high transparency after oil filling, fast oil absorption rate and excellent oil retention capacity, maintaining stable performance in high oil-filled formulations for long-term use.

  3. Good compatibility with polyethylene (PE), realizing efficient blending with polyolefin resins and performance enhancement of composite systems.

  4. No melt flow under standard test conditions, high molecular weight with stable physical and chemical properties in harsh service environments.

  5. Superior heat, weather and chemical resistance, no plasticizer added, environmentally friendly and suitable for high-end formulation preparation.

Typical Applications Of Kuraray SEPTON™ 4055 Impact Modifier

  1. High-transparency gel products: Used in electronic potting gel, high-transparency jelly wax and medical gel pads with excellent oil retention and transparency.

  2. High-performance adhesives and sealants: Formulated into structural adhesives and high-end sealants for aerospace, automotive and electronic fields with good bonding and sealing performance.

  3. Polyolefin polymer modification: Serves as a toughening modifier for PE/PP blends to improve tensile strength and environmental stress cracking resistance.

  4. High-end automotive components: Applied in oil seals, engine compartment gaskets and wire cable insulation for oil resistance and high-temperature stability.

  5. Protective coatings: Compounded into chemical-resistant protective coatings for metal and plastic substrates in industrial harsh environments.
